EXO Quick Start

This page takes you from a sealed box to playing in about ten minutes. Follow the steps in order, then use the success check at the end.

Before you start

  • PS5: the P5General dongle is in your box.
  • Xbox: have one genuine wired Xbox controller ready.
  • A phone with Bluetooth, or a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
  • If you want the EXO on Wi-Fi, a 2.4 GHz network.

Step 1: Connect the hardware

  1. Plug your controller (and your mouse and keyboard, if you use them) into the front ports A1–A4.
  2. Put the security-check device in the AUTH port on the back: the P5General (PS5) or your genuine wired Xbox controller (Xbox).
  3. Optional, for AI Scripts: connect the console's HDMI to HDMI IN, and HDMI OUT to your TV.
  4. Connect the CONSOLE USB-C port to your console. The EXO powers on.
Tip Set your console to talk to controllers over the USB cable. EXO Studio's "Wired controllers on each console" help has the steps for each console.

Step 2: Install the app

  • Phone: install the ZeroStick app.
  • PC: run the EXO Studio installer. It installs for your Windows user only. On first start, accept the terms, then connect the EXO's AUX USB-C port to your PC.

Step 3: Pair

  1. Pair soon after the EXO powers on. The first pairing has to happen inside the EXO's pairing window. If you miss it, unplug the EXO, plug it back in and try again.
  2. Open the app and tap the ZS EXO tile.
  3. Tap ZeroStick EXO in the list, then accept the pairing request.
  4. From now on, the app remembers your EXO and connects by itself when you open it.
  5. Optional: the first run offers Connect your EXO to Wi-Fi. Pick a network, type the password and tap Join, or tap Skip.

In EXO Studio, open the My EXO tab (Ctrl+E). It is the same app, running over the USB cable.

Step 4: Pick a config

  1. Create a config. The wizard first asks mouse or controller?
  2. On the config's Device page, open Connection Method and pick your console: P5General (PS5), Xbox or PC.
  3. Save. The EXO switches its console mode by itself, which takes about a second.
Warning A new config starts set to PS5. If you play on Xbox or PC, change the Connection Method before you play.

Step 5: Play

Press the home button on your controller. On Xbox, the first security check can take up to a few minutes. That is normal.

Success check

  • HOME shows EXO Core, with your config as the playing config.
  • When you press buttons, they show up in HOME's live input area.
  • Your console responds to your controller. On PS5, pressing PS wakes the controller.
