Why it costs what it does
The EXO is not one chip in a plastic shell. It is several devices on one board, and each one does a separate job.
| Part | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Main processor | Runs your config, aim engine, Smart Actions and GPC scripts 1,000 times a second, and runs AI Scripts on the device itself. |
| HDMI capture chip with passthrough | Reads the game picture for AI Scripts while your TV gets the picture untouched. You don't need a separate capture card. |
| Dedicated console chip | A dedicated chip that talks to the console as a controller and switches between PS5, Xbox and PC modes by itself. |
| Wireless radio | Bluetooth for the phone app, plus Wi-Fi. |
| USB hub, Ethernet and power circuits | Let you use a controller, mouse and keyboard at once, and give you a wired network port. |
| P5General dongle (PS5 version only) | A licensed device that answers the PS5's security check. Bought on its own, it sells for about $29.90, which more than covers the $20 difference between the two versions. |
Small runs cost more per unit
The EXO is built in small batches. Every production order has fixed set-up fees, and parts bought by the hundred cost far more each than parts bought by the hundred thousand. Imported parts also carry tariffs and shipping. Big brands spread those costs over huge volumes. We can't, so we set an honest price for the volume we actually build.
Compared with buying separate devices
To get what the EXO does, you would usually combine a script device (Cronus Zen or Titan Two style), a mouse-and-keyboard adapter (XIM style) and a capture card for screen-reading scripts. The EXO puts all of that in one box, and its software costs nothing.
