Get the ZS8K Configurator
The free app for ZeroStick 8K controllers, for Windows 10 and 11: remap buttons, tune sticks and triggers, test your 8K rate and keep the controller up to date. You don't need it to play — it's only for settings and updates.
Heads-up for the first launch: Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” the first time — click More info, then Run anyway. That's Microsoft Defender SmartScreen being careful with a new app that isn't code-signed yet — it isn't a virus warning. Only do this for the file you downloaded from this page.
Up and running in three steps
Plug in the controller
Connect it to your PC with a USB cable. It works as an 8,000 Hz controller straight away.
Open the ZS8K SETUP drive
A small drive called ZS8K SETUP appears in File Explorer. Double-click “Get the ZS8K app” to land back here — or just use the download button above.
Open the app
Run the file you downloaded. One click installs it, and it finds your controller by itself.

The app updates itself
It checks for a new version when it opens and once a day, downloads it quietly, and switches over the next time you start it — or when you click Restart to update. It never restarts by itself, so never in the middle of a game.
Controller updates in about 30 seconds
When new firmware is out, the app says Controller update available. One click and it's done. Prefer hands-off? You can let it update the controller automatically — only ever while the controller isn't in use.
Every update is signed
Each update is signed with a private key only ZeroStick holds, and the app refuses anything without a valid signature. Even if someone broke into our download site, they couldn't push fake software or firmware to you.
Safe if the cable comes out
The controller only runs new firmware once it's completely written and checked. If an update gets cut off, the controller waits in update mode — plug it back in and run the update again.
No app? It still just works.
You never need the app to play. Out of the box the controller is a normal 8,000 Hz PC controller, with nothing to install. Your settings are saved on the controller itself, so they come with it to any PC.
The setup drive. When you plug the controller in, it also shows a small read-only drive called ZS8K SETUP, with a shortcut to this page and a short read-me. It comes back at every plug-in until the app has connected once — and if you never want the app, it stops by itself after 5 plug-ins.
Want the drive back later? Hold the PS button while you plug the controller in: it starts in PC mode for that session and shows the ZS8K SETUP drive again. Or click Show the setup drive again next plug-in on the app's Advanced tab.
App questions
Where are my settings saved?
On the controller itself. Button maps, stick and trigger tuning, the lightbar colour and the output mode all live in the controller, so they work on any PC — with or without the app.
A game doesn't see my controller. What now?
Open the app and set the output mode to Xbox 360 (Advanced tab → Output Mode). Almost every PC game understands an Xbox 360 controller with no extra software, and the controller still runs at 8,000 Hz.
Will the app ever update my controller without asking?
Only if you turn on Update my controller automatically — it's off until you do. Even then it only updates right after you connect, while the controller isn't in use.

The Lightning board itself (ZS-LTN-01) in quantity — bare boards or pre-wired kits — plus OEM work if you want it designed into your own product, and reseller terms for finished ZeroStick 8K controllers.
Do you have order minimums?
No hard minimum to start the conversation. Tell us the volumes you have in mind and we'll quote around them — pricing and lead times are quoted per inquiry.
Does it work on console?
No. Lightning is a PC-only board. It does not connect to a PS5, Xbox or Switch — consoles cap how fast any controller may report, and an 8K board inside a capped console would be a fast engine behind a closed gate. We would rather say that plainly than sell you boards for the wrong machine. Building for console players? Ask us about the ZeroStick EXO line instead.
